The U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) measures inflation at the wholesale level, when producers pay more for materials and services, those costs eventually trickle down to everyday consumer prices. Because Fed closely monitors wholesale inflation when adjusting interest rates, this release triggers sharp, short-term moves in the U.S. Dollar.

Trading EUR/USD around PPI comes down to how the actual numbers compare against market expectations.

• Hotter than expected PPI indicates stubborn inflation, raising the likelihood that Fed keeps interest rates elevated. This strengthens the U.S. Dollar and creates a bearish opportunity for EUR/USD, pushing the pair downward.
• Cooler than expected PPI shows inflation is easing, giving Fed room to pause or lower interest rates. This weakens the U.S. Dollar and creates a bullish opportunity for EUR/USD.

You should monitor a few key price zones throughout the week. The pair is currently consolidating around the 1.1590 – 1.1600 zone. A soft PPI report could spark a rally toward upper resistance around 1.1700 – 1.1710. Strong PPI report could force price below immediate support at 1.1570, opening the door for a deeper slide toward 1.1480.
